A safe introduction to virology for a class of 20 to 40 students. Students inoculate newly grown host plant primary leaves with tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). Necrotic local lesions that develop on the inoculated leaf indicate the infectivity of the virus and the susceptibility of the host. Students can also explore conditions that might affect infectivity/susceptibility by: (1) serially diluting the TMV inoculum; (2) using a buffer as diluent; and (3) heating the virus or host leaf. Kit includes all materials needed to conduct the exercises except water. With instructions.
Note: Kit includes perishable materials. Kit and perishable material will ship separately and may arrive on different days. Keep sap frozen until use. Allow 9 to 10 days for assay plants to grow from seed; local disease symptoms appear on leaves 4 to 5 days after inoculation.
If for any reason you are not satisfied with this item, it is eligible for a return, exchange, refund or credit up to 30 days from date of receipt. Other restrictions may apply. Returns & Exchanges Policy.
