Headlines about orangutans and how palm oil, an ingredient in chocolate, may be harming them kicks off this unit. Students use modeling and other tools to investigate the palm oil problem. Using what they�ve learned, students then try to design an oil palm farm that supports both orangutan populations and local farmers.
