Students collect soil samples and use Berlese funnels to isolate the invertebrates, evaluate the use of other insect traps, and test baits as a way to collect and observe insects. Students then quantify biodiversity using 3 indices: species richness, Shannon-Wiener, and Simpson's. Designed for 32 students working in groups of 4.
